OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for facilitating the physical fulfillment of the Artistic vision for all company and MCB School performances.  This role is also responsible for overseeing and managing all theatre operations from load-in to rehearsal, performance and strike, and for the safe operations of all facility and theatre activity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

LIGHTING

  • Maintain MCB lighting archive and current lighting paperwork, including but not limited to lightplots, hookups, cue lists, focus charts, equipment inventories, console show files, etc.
  • Maintain the artistic integrity of the company’s repertoire, which includes work of highly prominent choreographers and lighting designers.
  • Focus lighting fixtures for all MCB performances. Supervise or Direct lighting focus for special events and other performances as needed.
  • Proficient with Vectorworks, Lightwrite and ETC consoles
  • Assist Guest Lighting Designers, Director of Production, and IATSE electrics department with all new and existing repertory
  • Attend all performances and technical rehearsals. Attend studio rehearsals as needed.
  • Work with Director of Production and Production Stage Manager to ensure safe and efficient working environment, including but not limited to all load ins, load outs and performances.

PRODUCTION

  • Direct the preparation, creation, maintenance, repair, installation, and operation of all theatrical equipment. 
  • Hire, manage, and supervise full-time, seasonal, part-time, contracted, Union and Production staff.  Serve as primary interface with all venue-provided labor. 
  • Create all technical drawings and paperwork necessary for the installation of the productions into and out of the theatre.  Negotiate and manage all Scenic, Lighting, Sound and Special Effects design and consultant contracts.  Negotiate and manage all lighting equipment, scenic construction, and equipment transportation as well as purchase and rental activities. 
  • Assist the Production Stage Manager in the creation of the general Production Schedule for each main stage production.  Manage all staff in the achievement of that schedule. 
  • Create and track annual operating budget for the Production Department.  Oversee the accounting and reporting of Production department finances.  Review, approve, and track all accounts payable for Production department invoices and payroll. 
  •  Create all technical drawings necessary for the bidding for and/or construction of any new production.  Oversee, manage, and actively create any new scenery, prop, road box or storage crate construction. 
  • Provide Company Manager any necessary logistical and technical information necessary for the pursuit of international and domestic touring engagements.  Author Technical Riders for all international and domestic touring. 
  • Responsible for warehouse/workshop operations and the safe storage, maintenance and inventory of all physical production equipment therein. 
  • Act as reference, advisor, and facilitator to all departments in areas of production, i.e. special events, marketing, development, and community engagement events requiring technical support, transportation, permitting, or Company or School dancers, both inside and outside the company’s facilities. 
  • Other duties as assigned by Artistic Director. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Minimum of five years related field experience in theatrical technical production with some experience in a major national performing arts center at the equivalent scale (in terms of crew, lighting, scenery, etc.) of Miami City Ballet productions
  • MFA in Lighting Design or related field, or equivalent professional work experience
  • Touring experience highly preferred
  • Proven skills in negotiations, diplomacy, and public speaking
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and coordinate administrative and production staff as well as provide support for designers and artistic staff
  • Lead crews effectively
  • Experience working with IATSE crews and working conditions
  • Computer skills – Microsoft office, Cad, Microsoft outlook

Student Housing Assistant

Job Title: Part-Time MCBS Student Housing Assistant

Schedule: School Year 2024-2025 (September 5th – June 1st) 

We are looking for an experienced, energetic, and mature professional to support Miami City Ballet School’s Housing Manager during the 24/25 school year. The Miami City Ballet School Student Housing Assistant is a part-time (2 day) weekly residential position.   

Reporting to the Housing Manager, the Part Time MCBS Student Housing Assistant’s primary responsibility is to supervise and enhance the residential living environment of our students during the scheduled time off for the MCBS Housing Manager.  This role will work in tandem with the Housing Manager to act as a step-in temporary resident supervisor to oversee the students living at Tradewinds, implementing processes and procedures that ensure a healthy, safe, and thriving environment for students.  

The MCBS Housing Assistant must be physically present at the apartment complex from 7:00 pm until 12:00 am on Thursdays and Fridays.  

Students should be informed when the MCBS Housing Assistant will be off the premises and given instructions on how to be contacted.   

Housing Manager vacation days are March 24th – 29th with occasional Floating days taken as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate daily with the Student Housing Manager regarding student absences, illnesses, medical issues, medical appointments, behavioral problems, and other pertinent information.  
  • Communicate frequently with the Tradewinds property managers and staff regarding maintenance issues or other Tradewinds property concerns.  
  • Ensure housing policies and procedures are always followed.  
  • Ensure that students follow schedule and maintain punctuality.  
  • Accompany ill or injured students to Urgent Care or medical appointments.  
  • Maintain contact and medical information for each student.  
  • Rotation support at the Miami City Ballet School.  

Qualifications:  

  • Candidate must be at least 21 years of age.  
  • Priority will be given to candidates with previous resident advisor/director or chaperone experience 
  • Priority will be given to candidates who have professional educational (K-12 system) and/or professional mental health experience.  
  • Nurturing demeanor with the ability to exercise authority and discipline when necessary.  
  • Experience in supervising youth, preferably high school-aged students.  
  • Strong interest and commitment in areas of Student Affairs and Residential Housing.  
  • Exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing.  
  • Familiarity with social-emotional learning and community building.  
  • Cultural sensitivity and an ability to build relationships and support a diverse student body.  
  • Team player who excels at building trusting relationships with students and co-workers.  
  • Organized and detail oriented. 
  • Fluent in English and bi-lingual in English and Spanish a plus. 
  • CPR/First Aid Training Certified is preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Serves as the front-line point of contact for the Children’s division and Open classes.
  • Oversees School inbox. Provide the best possible customer service to families by answering MCBS phone lines and relaying telephone messages and e-mails to appropriate school employees and other Company departments.
  • Completes data entry for student records in the Children’s Division
  • Receives excused absence calls and emails and disseminates this information to faculty in a timely fashion.
  • Tracks schedule changes, updates it in the portal and notifies faculty and pianist of changes.

  • Provides support to the School Operations Manager with tuition deadlines and follows up with families as necessary for past due balances.
  • Assists the School Operations Manager with sales/refunds/credits and all student accounts.
  • Compiles receipts and submits credit card reconciliations to School Managing Director and Finance.
  • Ensures school website information is accurate and updated.
  • Manages locker reservations.
  • Provides administrative support to all School staff, as needed.
  • Assists with drop-off and pick up procedures to help ensure safety of students
  • Updates all registration forms and packets of information for parents of the Children’s Division
  • Manages outgoing communications regarding Community Schedule changes/holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years administrative experience required. Must be fluent in English, bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft suite, and an ability to learn new programs
  • Excellent time management skills, demonstrated ability to coordinate simultaneous projects, with forward planning and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail, grammar, and proof-reading skills
  • Excellent initiative taking with an ability to proactively solve problems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including a positive attitude and the ability to deal with a variety of stakeholders

JOB SUMMARY
The Audience Services Representative (ASR) is the first point of customer contact and is responsible for providing the customer with the best impression of the Miami City Ballet. Remote work is available throughout the year when no onsite or in-venue service activations occur.

Key responsibilities include delivering excellent customer care for all customers and prospects of MCB:

  • Managing inquiries and communications with customers across several communication channels.
  • Acknowledge and resolve customer concerns and complaints.
  • Knowledgeable about the MCB as an organization, familiarity with the company of dancers, our season, and events/performances inside and out to answer questions
  • Communicate and coordinate with colleagues as necessary
  • Provide ongoing feedback on the efficiency of the customer service process
  • Keep records of customer interactions, transactions, comments and complaints.
  • Process orders, forms, modifications and escalations
  • Fulfill and generate ticket sales, subscriptions and payments

To do well in this role, the ASR must be customer-centric and service-oriented with a positive, empathetic and professional attitude toward customers at all times.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Relationship management

Take and fill ticket orders for individual ticket purchases over the telephone and at the box office window.

  • Respond promptly and thoroughly to customer inquiries; Resolve customer complaints efficiently and strive to deliver customer satisfaction
  • Build rapport, on-going relationships, and credibility with customers by delivering consistent and excellent customer care, anticipating their needs (and objectives of the customer) and initiate any service recovery.
  • Understand and provide information: seating, prices, fees, and sections of multiple venues, as well as parking options and directions and related information to help provide optimal customer experience.
  • Provide customers insight and updates on the season, programs, and various subscription package and product options, in order to increase sales, engagement and/or customer service.
  • Explain provide upgrade options and fill orders for interested patrons.
  • Assist patrons/subscribers with ticket exchanges.
  • Provide assistance and support for ticketing matters for internal department needs.

Data Management

  • Process all transactions through Tessitura.
  • Create and maintain accurate customer data in Tessitura.
  • Provide daily payment settlements to management; ensure final report balances credit cards, cash, and check transactions.
  • Filling in CSI’s to capture customer feedback after shows, etc.

Other:

  • Prepare tickets for mailing or will call as needed.
  • Correspond with customers via email, phone or any other written documentation is imperative.
  • Contribute and assist in various CR-related administrative tasks and duties to support smooth-running CR operations.
  • Work collaboratively with organizational colleagues across the organization.
  • Share frontline customer feedback with Marketing and Development team as appropriate.

On-site service:

  • Provide customer/subscriber and relationship management support on performance weekends and locations.
  • Provide clerk duties at the MCB Store, both on-location and at various performance venues.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with customer support.
  • Comfortable using computers and databases.
  • Knowledgeable in Excel, Microsoft Word, Tessitura knowledge ideal, training provided for Tessitura.
  • Ability to use database software; maintain accurate electronic records—tessitura knowledge ideal.
  • Interest and desire to have strong Product/Service knowledge – From common issues to upgrades, CRR has and pursues knowledge about the organization, season programs, dancers, and other info relevant to offer customers.
  • Excellent communication skills: oral, interpersonal, and written – Ability to hear customer suggestions and complaints, respond accordingly and clearly while flexible to adapt message and style to various customer types.
  • Time management – Responding to customers promptly and resolving issues, good management skills.

Teaching Artists for Commmunity Engagement

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Miami City Ballet’s Director of Community Engagement and the Dance Education Programs Manager, Teaching Artists are practicing artists in Dance, Arts Education, and Performing Arts committed to working with young people of varied abilities. Miami City Ballet’s Community Engagement programs, including STEAM+, Explore Dance, M.C.B.’s Masterclass Series, and Miami City Ballet’s Palm Beach Summer Dance Camp, bring high-quality arts enrichment to the youth of South Florida by working through established after-school and year-round programs at Miami-Dade County Title I Public Schools, Partnering Community Organizations, K-12 Performing Arts Schools as well as Performing Arts magnet schools.

Applicants must demonstrate expertise working as professional dance teaching artists, the ability to set choreography for students of varied abilities, basic curriculum standards to teach Ballet Fundamentals, Creative Movement practices, the ability to produce Culminating Event performances, experience in lesson planning and arts integration curriculum writing, strong communication, and interpersonal skills, facilitating group decision-making, handling multiple tasks simultaneously, and strong attention to detail.

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION:

This is an independent contractor position. Applicants must have availability to work during and after school hours, on occasional weekends, and during the day in the summers. Teaching Artists should have the ability to travel throughout the South Florida tri-county region to various residency sites. A full residency ranges between 5-25 weeks (according to each program) and ends in a culminating performance. Teaching Artists earn $50/hour to instruct and $25/hour for lesson planning, and mileage reimbursement for instruction provided outside of Miami-Dade County.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:

Direct instruction with students in Kinder-12th Grade using guidelines of the Florida Arts Standards, MDCPS STEAM+ Rubric, and Miami City Ballet Fundamentals Curriculum. Planning and executing arts programming appropriate for specific age groups, attending professional development workshops and meetings, and carrying out administrative responsibilities (such as submitting written lesson plans, student pre-and post-assessments, timecards, student evaluations, and other duties as assigned). TAs selected for employment must also attend a 3-day training session held at Miami City Ballet from September 28th – 30th, 2022.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum (4) years of teaching experience and substantial training in Dance Education. Strong content knowledge in classical ballet, performance, and stage work. Commitment to serving children in typically under-represented communities. Must be culturally competent to work with a diverse student body and students with special needs. Must be adaptable to instruction in non-traditional dance spaces. Excellent verbal and written commutation skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with adults and children. Instructors with proficiency in Spanish are encouraged to apply. Instructors with varied dance genre teaching experience with a strong ballet foundation are welcome to apply.
