Open Auditions for the 2010-2011 Winter Program
Wednesday, August 11 & 25, 2010
5:00 p.m. -- ages 7-12
6:00 p.m. -- ages 13 and older
Video audition requirements for advanced and out-of-town students:
For those students who are unable to attend any audition class due to extenuating circumstances, please submit:
1. Two full-body photos (3"x5" or 4"x6"). For the girls -- one in 1st Arabesque and another in seconde position, wearing practice clothes and no skirts. For the boys -- one in 1st Arabesque and another in a la second. Please make sure your name, address and phone number are on the photos.
2. A registration form and a registration fee of $50.00
3. A DVD or standard VHS format video with the following:
For Boys and Girls:
I. A short 1-to-3 minute variation
II. At the barre, shot in profile:
1. Plies
2. Tendu & Degage
3. Fondue & Develope (front, side, back)
4. Grand Battements
III. In the center (On Pointe for advanced students) facing camera (All girls 13 and over must be on pointe)
1. Develope devant, a la seconde (facing camera), arabesque (profile)
2. Pirouettes (en dehor, en dedan)
3. Two combinations using assemblé, jeté, sissonne, and glissade
IV. Diagonal across the floor:
1. Grand Jeté and tour jeté
For Girls:
1. Echappe combination with passé
2. Pirouettes (en dehor, en dedan)
3. Fouettes turns (16 if possible)
4. Pique turns
For Boys:
Same as above without pointe work exercises, but including:
1. Entrechat Six (16 bars)
2. Single or Double Tour en L'air
3. Pirouette combination (en dehor, en dedan)
4. Grand pirouettes in a la seconde (for advanced boys)
5. Jump combination with echappés, assemblés and jetés and sissonnes (with beats, if possible)

Miami City Ballet School Residence Hall -- FULLY FURNISHED (new for 2010-2011 School year) Miami City Ballet School is offering a completely renovated complex located at 24th Street and Pinetree Drive, two blocks from the Miami City Ballet building within easy walking distance.
The residence hall is professionally staffed and has 24-hour adult supervision. Live-in staff includes the School’s Director of Student Life, hall directors, and student resident assistants. A support staff will also participate in the daily operations of the residence hall. There is an on-premise security guard at the entrance to Miami City Ballet School Residence Hall. Students are required to sign in and out of the hall and receive permission from the staff person on duty when applicable. The staff is responsible for enforcing hall rules and curfews, and dealing with medical and other problems or emergencies. The staff also assists with the planning and implementation of student activities. There are four students to each bedroom apartment. The completely and elegantly fully-furnished apartments include:
Brand new plasma TVs with basic cable
Wireless Internet
Kitchen with stove/oven, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, glasses, dishes, pots, pans, all utensils, etc.
Linens and towels provided
Clothes iron & ironing board
Laundry facilities
Lockers for each student's valuables Winter fee:
Full Payment: $7,000.00
2 payments: $3,500.00 – due August 15 and December 31
10 monthly installments: $700.00 August 1 through May 1
