It’s a good thing Justin Peck is young and resilient, as well as talented. Peck, 26, juggles a budding career as a choreographer favorably noticed by critics with his responsibilities as a soloist with the New York City Ballet.
Mid-December found him in Miami Beach, rehearsing his pas de deux Chutes and Ladders with Miami City Ballet for the program the company will perform Friday through Sunday at the Kravis Center. The night before his arrival, he’d been on stage with New York City Ballet.
Directly after his return to New York, he met with composer Sufjan Stevens to discuss a work Peck is creatingfor New York City Ballet that will premiere in May.
As if that weren’t enough, the male dancer scheduled to perform Chutes and Ladders sprained his ankle during a Nutcracker rehearsal.
