The arts reap benefits for S. Florida businesses (The Miami Herald, 9.19.11)

Miami is in the midst of a cultural awakening. What started in 2002 with the arrival of Art Basel Miami Beach and continued with the construction of the Adrienne Arsht Center and New World Symphony’s new home, is now culminating with the development of Miami Art Museum and Miami Science Museum in downtown’s Museum Park.

When the science museum is completed, Miami will have lured the world’s largest art fair, and built four world-class arts and science institutions in a 12-year span – all within a few miles of one another. Few cities can compete with that level of cultural investment.
